Global Unity & Peace

Around the turn of this century, Nia HQ presented a VHS tape for the general public’s use: Global Unity. In the award-winning tape, Debbie Rosas and Carlos Aya-Rosas lead a group of movers in a 60-minute cardiovascular workout. Global Unity was the second routine I learned and taught. It’s now a Nia classic in every sense of the way.

Since a new year has started, I was thinking what do I want to focus on this year? Unity. Unity in myself, my community, state, country and the whole world. Global Unity fits the bill.

What a fun routine it is. I’m not out to save the world but to move. To find peace in my joints, bones and muscles and to move forward and share this experience with others.

When we sound YES or NO, the nervous system relaxes. You can also relax the nervous system and vagus nerves by singing in the shower. Who cares if you’re off key. You’re taking care of your body, mind, emotions and spirit. Finding your unity.

In the ‘I Love Baby Cheesy’ song by Banco De Gaia, a voice asks at the end, ‘How are you feeling?’ Another voice answers, ‘It’s fabulous. I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life. It’s great. It’s great!’ I know my body feels great afterwards. I’m relaxed and ready to face the day. Students are also at ease and ready to chat about their experiences. Finding unity and peace one body at a time. Who knows? It just might catch on.

You can take the Global Unity class online at https://niaondemand.com – first 2 weeks are FREE! Or catch me online or in person for a class. I just might be teaching Global Unity that day.
