Holistic fitness for your body, mind, emotions and spirit
I started Nia with a frozen shoulder in awe and envy of the way people could move their hips and lift both arms. It didn’t take me long to fall in love with Nia and heal my body (and move my hips and lift both arms).
Are you ready to find health through movement your body’s way?

What is Nia?
The Nia Technique is a barefoot fitness class that combines simple dance moves with martial arts and healing arts to provide a total body workout that includes your mind, emotions and spirit. Nia is based on the idea that exercise should feel good – inside and out!
About Sarah
I was fortunate to be living in Portland, Oregon in 1999 when I ‘discovered’ Nia. It was the fitness program I’d been looking for since 1983. Coincidence? That’s when Nia started unbeknownst to me.
Deciding to find out why people who came from everywhere to take a belt training held in the studio would have these wonderful smiles on their faces, I took my white belt in 2001 and found out why.
I’ve been sharing this fascinating movement program throughout the greater Seattle area since. Nia has helped me in life struggles, given me confidence to pursue goals and dance to my own creative rhythm.
As I grow older, my body wisdom feels wiser. I intend to pass from this earth dancing all the way.
